One of the problems with a lot of electric bikes is their styling. Though they can be very cool, fun, and quite convenient, it seems that their inventors are so consumed with the idea of ‘future tech’ that they fail to realize that design and technology are not mutually exclusive. They forget that it is possible to have something built with forward-leaning machinery that doesn’t look like a vehicle out of a Jetsons cartoon. At least, that’s the lesson that should be learned from the folks at Tempus Electric Bikes.

This beautiful bike, which draws styling cues from classic cafe racer motorcycles, is fitted with a 1000 watt hub motor and a 48 volt Lithium-ion battery – that takes only 5 hours to recharge. It can reach speeds of up to 31 miles per hour and its Aircraft-grade Chromoly steel frame supports a maximum load capacity of 350 pounds. And if while riding, you do get up to an uncomfortable speed, the 26 inch wheels can be brought to a halt with the already-equipped Marks M2 Hydraulic disc brakes. This two-wheeled melding of past and future can be yours for just $5,000 CanadianTempus-Electric-Bike-1
