1971 DODGE SHAKEDOWN CHALLENGER

It is rare that we get to have our cake and eat it too, but with the 1971 Dodge Shakedown Challenger, it looks like the American automaker has combined the best of the old and new in one hellish looking beast of a vehicle.

For the Las Vegas SEMA show, Dodge took the body of a 1971 Challenger and fitted it with all modern parts and stylings. First, and most importantly among these upgrades is the 6.4 liter HEMI V8 engine that drives 485 horses through its Viper Tremec T6060 six speed transmission. Not bad for a 45 year old. In addition to the beastly power plant under the hood, the car got a ‘Bitchin Black’ paint job with an angry red pinstripe down the modern shaker-hood kit that matches with the Brembo red SRT Hellcat brakes on the front and back wheels. Not only does the interior of the car now feature seat belts, but the old seats were swapped out for new ones featuring Katzkin and Alcantara leather. Whoever said you can’t teach an old dog new tricks was dead wrong.
