Drones are complicated. You have to really know what you are doing if you want to buy one yourself – both when it comes to piloting a rig and operating the camera attached to it. The Hover Camera is a much simpler drone intended to give a broader set of folks a chance at having fun with flying cameras.
All you have to do to get the drone going is hit the power button, unfold it, and it’ll immediately start hovering. While it is designed to operate out of the box, you won’t have to compromise on image quality – the Hover Drone has the ability to shoot 13 megapixel stills and 4K video on an image stabilizing camera. As if that wasn’t cool enough, this drone can shoot 360 degree panorama shots and follow a subject around using facial recognition. Due to its carbon fiber construction, the drone weighs less than 250 grams, meaning you don’t have to go through the hassle of registering it with the FAA. At the moment, this thing isn’t for sale – but the company run by two Stanford PhD grads is looking to release sometime soon, so keep your eyes pealed
