Ice Straws: a Smart Way to Consume Cold Booze

Wednesday, June 30th, 2010

These ice straws are an awesome idea ? especially for summer. It always takes a few minutes for the coldness of the ice to kick into a drink and by then it is usually diluted to the point of ridiculousness. Having the straw made of ice maximizes the liquid?s contact with the ice ? and does away with need for time.

Prada is launching its e-store in the U.S. starting July 1. in the beginning luxury websites were merely to promote the brand but these days brands like Yves Saint Laurent and Gucci also offer online shopping directly off the main site rather than sending shoppers to department store websites. Unfortunately you can’t buy Prada clothing on the site but you can pick up purses, accessories and eyewear. The e-store is designed to capture a boutique experience and an e-gift feature lets you order presents online and that can be delivered to the home of the recipient with a personalized card. The Prada site is already very content rich featuring video of runway shows, short films, lookbooks and ad campaign images. Next up for Prada-style e-commerce, Japan.

We were always amazed by Scaramanga’s flying AMC Matador in The Man With The Golden Gun, and now you can own your very own flying car. Or is that driving plane? Actually, it’s the Terrafugia Transition ($195,000). This “light sport” aircraft features electrically-powered folding wings that, when paired with the rear-facing propeller, allow it to fly at 115 mph for up to 460 miles. But should inclement weather strike, or you just decide to drive, the wings fold up and the Transition becomes a street-legal car that gets 30 miles to the gallon. It’s the ultimate getaway vehicle, provided you, your sidekick/henchman, and your loot don’t weigh more than 450 lbs.

Very few resorts manage to get all the ingredients right when opening but we can assure you, this beauty of a hotel has ticked all the right boxes. The resort, the location, the backdrop, the mountain walks, the spa, the room, the excellent service, the attention to detail, the happy staff, and the food. According to The Coolhunter “Saffire is truly one of Australia’s most exciting places to stay.”

Amenities included, of course, wireless internet and remote controlled blinds, but the best part was the sweet turn-down service. They will supply a hot water bottle for the bed and a thermos of hot chocolate as it is winter in Tasmania.

Developed in collaboration with The Impossible Project and limited to just 50 units, these hand-refurbished Land Cams feature a white and black body with a seventies-licious rainbow running from the lens to the output slot, a simple black strap, and come with two boxes of B&W/sepia PX 100 film. The perfect real-world compliment to all those grainy, processed iPhone pics you’ve been snapping.
