With the OfficePOD, you will get to spend more time at home, but at the same time, it will help you keep your work separate. The basic idea behind the design of the OfficePOD was to create a self contained office that tops all standard office accommodation regulations and requirements. The modular design enables speedy construction, even in gardens with the most difficult access. High quality materials have been used in the making of this office pod. Power is provided via a protected connection to the house or garage. The OfficePOD comes with a secure locking system of the highest quality, which ensures utmost security when empty or occupied.

The Colibri brands will live on. Colibri went into receivership with the State of Rhode Island in January and immediately closed its doors and laid off all workers. The Colibri Group is most well-known for their lighters but the brand also manufactured and marketed other brands including Seth Thomas, Dolan Bullock and Krementz. The company sold its assets at auction on March 19 and found two main buyers.

Watch distributor Alliance Time picked up the Colibri, Seth Thomas and Linden Clocks brands for $2.3 million. Alliance is asking former Colibri employees to contact them about potential work.

National Jeweler reports that online jewelry auction site Bidz.com paid $6 million for jewelry lines manufactured by Colibri, including the Krementz, Princess Pride, Darling Diamonds and Dolan Bullock brands.

Nicest Unit Conversion iPhone App You’re Likely To See

Aside from being able to convert Swedish krona into pesos, millimeters of mercury into pascals and everything in between, ConvertBot looks and sounds beautiful.

Also, I think this is the most emotionally touching app demo I’ve ever seen. With the crisp 5D Mark II limited-depth-of-field video, that plaintive guitar music and this guy’s voice, I feel suddenly moved to SPEND SPEND SPEND! In all seriousness though, this is a great piece of work by the guys at Tapbots and well worth the buck. Vote with your dollars and reward some attention to design detail (from the satisfying click noises down to the lovely typography and icons) in the App Store. Lord knows we need all we can get.

Switzerland’s legendary Fairmont Le Montreux Palace (above), originally built in 1906, will unveil a multimillion-dollar renovation by noted interior designer Fiona Thompson next month, including a new suite fashioned in honor of flamboyant Queen frontman Freddie Mercury. The luxurious Beaux-Arts hotel, which overlooks the French Alps and is located on the shores of Lake Geneva, is introducing a contemporary new redesign of its guest rooms, Brasserie and public spaces, including the Freddie Mercury Suite. Mercury was a Montreux resident and frequent guest of the hotel, as were such luminaries as Tchaikovsky, Stravinsky, Lord Byron, Leo Tolstoy, Dostoyevsky, and Vladimir Nabokov.

The 235-room luxury resort offers 190 elegantly-appointed rooms and 45 suites and junior suites, 12 conference and meeting rooms, and the 21,000 square foot Willow Stream Spa in addition to the resort’s renovated Brasserie, a new lobby lounge and bar, and the famous Harry’s New York bar. Elegant and timeless, the guest rooms at Fairmont Le Montreux Palace contrast traditional and contemporary new design elements with breathtaking views of Lake Geneva. Color palettes are light and airy set against a series of colorful photographic prints throughout the rooms, representing the reflective qualities of water.

Arc’teryx Alpha SV Jacket

Ideal for severe weather conditions, the Arc’teryx Alpha SV ($600) is one tough jacket. Made with waterproof and breathable Gore-Tex Pro material, the lightweight shell keeps even the burliest of winds out. It features a drop-back hem for rear coverage, a high collar and helmet-compatible hood, water-tight zippers, underarm zips for ventilation, and harness HemLock for hardcore climbing. We tested one on a recent mountain expedition snow tubing trip, and while it might have been overkill, the jacket, along with some base layers and a pair of Arc’teryx Sidewinder SV Pants ($400), kept us dry and toasty all day. Suffice it to say, the Alpha SV is professional grade.

Hyundai recently broke a few molds with its dolphin-inspired cellphone, and it now looks to be doing the same with its latest plug-in hybrid concept, which is set to make its public debut at the Seoul Motor Show next week. Of course, Hyundai isn’t just letting the car, dubbed the BLUE-WILL, get by on those eye-catching lines alone, with it also cramming a direct-inject 1.6-liter gas engine with a CVT transmission and a 100kw electric motor under the hood, and taking a number of other measures to make the vehicle even more eco-minded. That includes some solar cells on the panoramic roof, which you can still see through, and some eco-friendly plastics throughout, including headlamp bezels made from recycled plastic bottles, and other plastics derived from plant extracts.

Check Out The New Yankee Stadium’s Giant Screen – There’s No Such Thing As Too Big

Wednesday, March 25th, 2009

yankee_stadium_screenjpg.jpeg

Given the Yankee’s new stadium has a price tag of $1.3 billion, it’s not surprising that some of that money has been spent on what has to be one of the largest ‘TVs’ in the world. The image you see here was taken by a New York CBS affiliate and shows an early test of the stadium’s 103 by 58 foot (that’s almost 6,000 square feet) Mitsubishi Diamond Vision LED display. It’s composed of 8,601,600 LEDs and besides being HD it can also display up to 4 video feeds at one time, and do picture-in-picture.

Unfortunately some fans are worried that the new screen might actually be too big, and that it could become a distraction or overshadow what’s happening on the field, but apparently they’ve never sat through an entire baseball game before. As far as I’m concerned, the more distractions, the better.
