OSOM Table – A complete organized workstation renders uber-efficiency at work

However advanced or digitalized we may claim ourselves to be, none of us can renounce the early practice of working on/with paper. Every office environment utilizes employees for various tasks, be they on the computer or done manually. Some may need to type restlessly at the keyboard, while others may need to go through piles of papers. So in order to provide a common platform for every worker to work without much difficulty, designer Thomas Broen has given shape to the OSOM Table. This versatile workstation’s design is inspired by the “Out Of Sight, Out Of Mind” principle, and is intended to help users work more efficiently.

insingershoebox.jpg

Realizing that many of its wealthy clients lack the time or patience to deal with their personal finances, Amsterdam-based private bank Insinger de Beaufort launched a new service that takes finances back to the basics: a shoebox.

After sitting down with their private banker to discuss financial planning, Insinger’s clients are sent a big shoebox by courier every month. They drop anything admin-related into the box: bills to be paid, bank statements, receipts, tax returns, speeding tickets, insurance documents, etc. At the end of the month, Insinger sends a courier to pick up the box, and then processes its contents. Clients are sent a complete overview of actions and transactions within three business days, after which the bank takes care of the entire follow-up process, including paying bills, filing tax returns and processing business expenses.

Every quarter, clients are sent a financial report, detailing spending categories, asset growth, etc, and once a year, they meet with their private banker to evaluate new developments and adjust their financial planning as needed. Sensing a gap in the market, Insinger de Beaufort offers its shoebox service to clients at other banks, too. The concept is of course entirely focused on convenience, saving (valuable) clients the time and hassle of dealing with the minutiae of their personal finances. While other banks provide their high-end clients with similar add-on services, the shoebox approach is undeniably elegant in its no-tech simplicity.

Swatch Makes A Watch Collection For James Bond’s Villains

Wednesday, August 20th, 2008

Omega may have sealed the deal for James Bond’s watches but what about the villains. Enter Dr. Swatch, otherwise known as Nicolas G. Hayek. Swatch has created a new collection dedicated just to Bond’s antagonists. The new collection will be out next month and will be a tribute to those Bond has sparred with in twenty-two James Bond films, from Dr. No to the forthcoming Quantum Of Solace. Featured villains will include Christopher Walken’s Max Zorin, Gerd Froebe’s Goldfinger, Lotte Lenya’s Rosa Klebb and more. Sounds like fun, I’m just hoping my favorite, Richard Kiel (aka Jaws) has one.

Leonardo DiCaprio’s gorgeous Israeli model girlfriend Bar Refaeli appears in the ad campaign for Sean Combs’ modestly-named new fragrance, “I Am King.” The pix (above) portray Puffy (or Diddy or whatever he’s calling himself this week) tooling around in Saint-Tropez and Monaco on helicopters, yachts and so forth with Refaeli (left) and another model in typical mega-mogul fashion. New York magazine reports the new cologne will launch exclusively at Macy’s in December with a global launch set for February, and a women’s fragrance (”I Am Queen”) to follow in 2009; global sales are expected to total $100 million in the first year alone.
