TAG HEUER MIKROGIRDER

Wednesday, January 18th, 2012

As if you needed a reminder of how fast time is slipping away, the Tag Heuer Mikrogirder ($TBA) is here to show you with nearly unreadable speed. Accurate to 1/2,000th of a second, the Mikrogirder uses an all new beam/girder and excitatory beam/girder system to measure such small fractions of time with stunning accuracy, as evident on the central hand that does a complete revolution 20 times a second. Ohh it also tells you the normal time too.

Of course that has its price – the Richard Mille RM056 goes for 1.65 Million USD. Only 5 of these will be made.

IWC 2012 Pilot Watch Collection

Monday, January 16th, 2012

We already gave you a look at the Top Gun Miramar Watch by IWC, but it looks like the Swiss watch maker will have a much wider offering in the Pilot Watch section of their line this year.

They entirely revamp the Pilot Watch Collection, including for 2012 the Top Gun Miramar in two versions and the iconic Big Pilot’s Watch in overall 5 versions, including premium metal and matte black versions of the watches with various movements and functions. The line-up looks fantastic and is the most interesting we have seen from IWC in many years.

HYT H1: The Hydro Mechanical Watch

Friday, January 13th, 2012

Unlike other watches, the HYT H1 “uses a liquid-filled chamber to display the hours using a luminescent green fluid.” Two bellows are powered by the watch movement, and push and pull the liquid around the face to tell the time. The minutes are displayed in the center of the face with a dedicated dial. Keeping with the fluid theme, the second hand is modeled on a water turbine.Unfortunately, it will set you back a cool $45,000

The Mutewatch also features a built-in motion sensor that registers your movement and automatically adjusts the strength of the vibrations. So, whether you’re sleeping, on stage giving a presentation or doing your work out, the Mutewatch will keep you updated on your next step.

IWC Top Gun Miramar Pilot’s Watch

Monday, January 2nd, 2012

Today we get a first preview of a beautiful new watch by  IWC – the Top Gun Miramar Pilot’s Watch. This is only one of overall five new pilot’s watches that IWC will be releasing in 2012.

“The IWC Top Gun Miramar watch is a tribute to the place in California where the myth of the elite pilot (the “Top Gun”) was born.

This watch features a sleek looking dark grey ceramic case (48mm in diameter — pilot worthy, but far too large for me), and a somewhat vintage-military color set, including the green textile strap.”

The watch has a 48mm case, flyback chronograph movement, ceramic case and military green textile strap. A beautiful color combination and one of the best premium pilot’s watches we have come across to date. It will come out some time in 2012.

Hublot King Power Unico GMT Watch

Thursday, December 22nd, 2011

Today we can preview an interesting new model to come from Swiss watch maker Hublot in 2012 – the King Power Unico GMT Watch. Featuring a new in-house developed movement, the watch showcases in a new innovative way 24 timezones on the dial.

“The four GMT discs move with the main time. Using the little red lines and city names around the bezel and inside of the dial you can tell the time in each of the 24 hour time zones. Neat right? I like the novel approach that combines a little Hublot, a time honored complication, and what feels like some Urwerk inspiration given a dial that looks like the satellite time display on the UR-103 series.

The King Power Unico GMT watch will come in a 48mm wide King Power case in either 18k king gold or in black ceramic. Both versions have ceramic bezels. Inside the watch is the Hublot caliber HUB 1220 automatic GMT movement with 72 hours of power reserve. Notice the placement of the main time adjustment pusher placed at about 2 o’clock on the case.”

Cabestan Trapezium watch is named after the shape of its dial

Monday, December 19th, 2011

When you hear of a watch named Cabestan Trapezium, you expect a watch with a trapezium shaped dial face. Well, it actually is, but not the way you imagined first. It’s actually a vertical trapezium, instead of a horizontal one. Thanks to its unique design, Winch Tourbillon Vertical movement can be viewed from all angles. You need to pull out the two crowns placed on either on either side of the case that can help you in winding the watch, and set time. Visually stunning, the pricing is expected to be around 240,000 Swiss Francs ($255,765).

The Click Keypad Watch Is Not A Calculator

Tuesday, December 13th, 2011

You can add the Click Keypad watch to the list of time-telling devices whose entire point is to make the business of telling time more (not less) difficult. There’s a certain charm in the process, at least in the mind of certain geeks that are attracted by it. We fall squarely in that group and that’s why we like this watch. Not only does it tell time awkwardly, it also looks like it should be a calculator, but it isn’t. Time is displayed by a sequential blinking of the corresponding LEDs, which are activated after pressing any 0-9 number. The date is similarly triggered and read by pressing “#”.

The Click Keypad comes in 5 colors and costs $90.

Performance watch maker Suunto drops this limited edition Vector in a sporty rouge (red) color. In addition to telling time, the Vector is capable of multiple functions including serving as an electronic compass, altimeter, and barometer, which is why this watch has been a favored one amongst the outdoorsy type.
