Volant Ski’s precious metal ski equipment for the ultimate in slope style

Friday, February 3rd, 2012

Even though winters are on their way out from most parts of the world, holidaying in mountainous regions where the landscape is covered in snow is still very much a part of itinerary of vacationers. The common sport in that case is skiing, which like the others have now become the center of some high-end brands to display their creations with. We have earlier shown some options such as the Audi carbon skis and the Hublot Zai all-black series, but for those who have penchant for combinations of precious metal finishing, and exotic wood varieties like alpine, Volant skis are here for your ultimate experience of the slopes. The current range of skiis, have been created with 3 options for finishing and design. That would include the R Silver, The Copper, and the Loop models. The most technical of the lot is of course, the Silver R priced at $1,573 a pair. Due to the silver finishing of the ski, it gives an illusion of an arrow piercing through the snow, also because of the ultra-sleek design. The front end has been given a tip, which helps during the landing and maneuvering on uneven surfaces. The next in line would be the Copper edition, which is priced at $3,015 a pair. This is a special model which can guarantee the similar level of comfort and handling for all kinds of skiers. The reason for that is the ‘fits-all’ mechanism that can adapt to any kind of foot size.

ProForm’s ‘Tour De France’ Training Bike Automatically Raises And Lowers To Match The Actual Tour Route

Friday, July 22nd, 2011

It might look pretty run-of-the-mill as far as stationary bikes go. But there’s a reason ProForm’s ‘Tour De France’ has been named the official training bike of the actual race. And it’s not just because of the yellow highlights that match the famed yellow jersey. Thanks to its Google Maps-powered iFit Live Technology, you can virtually ride on any road on the planet. Including the official Tour De France route, which is one of the 24 pre-mapped and pre-programmed courses it comes with. (You can create your own too.)

But watching yourself following a virtual route on a tiny scrolling map isn’t that interesting. Or challenging. So the ‘Tour De France’ will automatically incline and decline to match the contours of the route you’re taking, making it feel like you’re riding up and down on the actual mapped terrain. Still not enough for you? The friction on the rear wheel is also automatically controlled to recreate your body’s wind resistance. When you climb on the bike and adjust it for your body, its onboard computers will calculate your height and weight, and apply the same amount of resistance you’d experience from the wind out on the open road.

It’s also got built-in wifi for syncing your performance results to iFit.com, is compatible with Polar’s chest-based pulse monitoring systems and even includes the necessary hookups for connecting and listening to your iPod. All for just $1,299. And let’s just hope you can avoid looking like this after a particularly gruelling ride.

Nike Lunar Control

Tuesday, July 12th, 2011

We do not report very often (actually at all) about golf as a sport and also not about golf gear. (Thank God) But today we came across the new limited edition Nike Lunar Control and we just had to show it to you.

The black leather low top comes with a Nike Lunar outer sole and Nike Flywire technology on the upper. Furthermore they added some herringbone fabric to the ankle support, along with polka dot design, the result being one of the nicest looking golf shoes we have seen to date. Also the leather upper is entirely waterproof. If it had a regular sole, we would actually wear it out! The shoe launched today on NikeStore.
