Things are certainly going well for Mick Jagger’s model daughter Georgia May Jagger as we first predicted back in the summer of 2008. Of course with a Rolling Stone for a dad and Jerry Hall for a mom what else would one expect for the 17-year-old stunner? In September we noted she had landed a sexy new ad campaign for Hudson Jeans; now she has made the cover of British Vogue and been named the new face of Versace. Jagger has just been photographed for the ad campaign by Mario Testino. “She’s smart, beautiful, full of energy and has a strong personality [with] that natural high star quality. I adore her,” Donatella Versace told WWD. “She’s perfect for this collection - a real Versace girl.”

Stella McCartney Gap Kids Collection Goes Live

Wednesday, November 4th, 2009

We let you know back in June that eco-friendly designer Stella McCartney was creating a line for GAP Kids. The runway designer has been an early adopter of fashion for the people, creating an H&M line back in 2005, and an ongoing athletic collection at Adidas boutiques nationwide. And now she’s paving the way for top designers to enter into the kids market.

If you’d fancy dressing up your toddler in tuxedo jackets or tulle skirts, then this is the collection for you. And while the collection is full of statement pieces, there are also lots of practicals like jeans, tunics, and caps. McCartney created the line with her own children in mind. “I believe that kids clothing should be more accessibly priced,” she said in a release, “which is particularly important at the moment given the current climate.” Prices start at $14 for colored knit tights and on the higher end, a baby cashmere blanket sells for $98. The collection is sure to sell out quickly, and give some much needed holiday sales to the GAP and further make McCartney’s luxury brand a household name.

qooq.jpg

While tech fiends are anxiously awaiting web tablets made by Apple and TechCrunch, a recently-launched French touchpad device could become the darling of culinary geeks. Made specifically for kitchen use, QOOQ is a touchscreen tablet that aims to coach and assist both beginning and experienced cooks.

For EUR 349, the device comes loaded with 500 interactive recipes and 10 instructional videos. Customers can add their own recipes and—for a monthly fee of EUR 12.95—get access to a further 2,000 recipes and 500 video, with 50 new recipes added every month. Membership also includes unlimited access to a culinary guide that covers everything from wine pairing to chopping techniques. Spillproof and wifi-enabled, QOOQ was developed entirely to be used in the kitchen. Placed flat on a countertop, it rests on ‘claws’ that keep it safely elevated from crumbs and damp prep areas. It can also stand upright, for easier reading and for use as a digital picture frame (the device is multi-purpose: it also includes a radio and a weather station).

QOOQ’s founders hope to encourage people to rediscover the pleasure of cooking, while making their lives simpler with features like intuitive menu planning tools and automated grocery lists. QOOQ’s interface and recipes are currently only available in French—for anyone in food publishing in other parts of the world, this could be a natural fit.

As long as your nightclub/hotspot of choice has plenty of black lighting installed you can now wear your glowsticks with the ‘Flash For Fun’ clothing from Diesel. Everything in the new line, which includes denim, tees, underwear and sneakers, is specially coated so that it will glow with unique patterns and illustrations when exposed to a black light. And the glowing designs are completely invisible in regular light, allowing you to wear them during the day without looking like a complete and utter tool. Men’s jeans seem to run around $150 (100 Euros) while tees are about $38 (25 Euros) but this time you’re paying for more than just a name.

The recently-opened Etiqueta Negra boutique in downtown Manhattan has brought a modern take on masculine, equestrian style all the way from Buenos Aires. The store, which features among other décor elements a 1938 Alfa Romeo racecar (above), carries suits, jackets, jeans and shirts, as well as a line of leather shoes designed exclusively for Etiqueta Negra by Casa Fagliano, the Argentina-based maker of Prince Charles’ bespoke polo boots. Prices for the princely footwear, which is not available anywhere else in the U.S., begin at $2,500 a pair. They also carry polo gear as well as women’s clothing, though the emphasis is on the menswear.
