2011 Wiesmann MF5 V10 Black Bat

Wednesday, November 16th, 2011

One look at the Wiesmann Roadster MF5 and you get the feeling that it’s the distant cousin of the SR-71 Blackbird. The imposing appearance of this stealthy roadster is the handiwork of a German car wrapping company, SchwabenFolia. Their crew has managed to do a remarkable job on the exterior of the MF5 that justifies its name ‘Black Bat’.
The MF5 is draped in vinyl and sports a matte black finish on the outer panels and door sills. Even the more unseen parts of the car like the engine room, trunk and inner hood have been given the ‘Bat’ treatment. Impressively, the famous outline of the Nurburgring Nordschleife is embossed into the wrap on the upper door sills of the MF5.
In addition, it also sports a contrasting red Batman logo on the rear bumper. The Black Bat’s stunning look is carried to the interiors as well and the completely blacked out 20-inch alloy wheels complete the Batman look of the MF5.

The power plant of this roadster comprises of a 4.4-liter V8 engine from BMW. The Twin Scroll engine delivers a monstrous 555 horsepower and powers the vehicle from 0 to 100 km/h in an impressive 3.9 seconds with a top speed of 311 km/h. The price of this super exclusive roadster starts at around $250,000, but sans the matte black coating for which you’ve to shell out some extra bucks.

ICON THE DERELICTS

Wednesday, November 16th, 2011

They’re well known for taking vintage vehicles and transforming them into modern marvels, but ICON’s The Derelicts ($TBA) line forgoes the upgraded exterior to create something truly unique. On the outside of each one-off vehicle, you’ll find the same worn, vintage exterior that you might see on a junkyard specimen, but upgraded underneath with new interiors, modern chassis, electrical components and power trains. The example above is a 1952 Chevy Deluxe Business Man’s coupe, which has been tricked out with an Art Morrison powder-coated chassis, ABS brakes, a 430hp Camaro 6.2 LS3 engine, and exotic interior materials; expect others, including models based on a 1939 Nash and a 1967 Rolls Royce, to make an appearance in the coming

2013 Hyundai Veloster Turbo coming to 2012 Detroit Auto Show

Monday, November 14th, 2011

Hyundai has recently confirmed that an upgraded version of Veloster will make its debut at the Detroit Motor Show in January, 2012. The upgrades include substantial changes in the vehicle’s front grille, front fascia, muffler, wheels and the side sills. This latest version incorporates a turbo charged engine to boost up its power significantly, which will be one of the highlights of this variant. Nothing much has been revealed about this version officially as the company is playing cards close to its chest. Obviously, the newer version is destined to adds more power and aggressiveness to the standard version.

First look

The changes made in the front grille will be highly noticeable at the first glimpse itself. The tweaked lines in the front fascia adds more aggressive feeling to the car. However, Hyundai’s unique three door concept which was introduced with the standard Veloster remains the same in this upgraded version too. At the rear, modification made to the muffler section is quite impressive. After all, the wheels and tires have been changed and it brings a forceful look to the car. All together, the upgraded version of Veloster captivates every body at the first look.

What’s new?

The newer version will possess a turbo charged, four cylinder engine with 1.6L capacity. The standard version has a naturally aspirated engine which is quite good. However, the tremendous increase in power, observed in the upgraded version when compared to the standard Veloster is due to the presence of a turbo-charger. To mention, this turbo charged engine is also one of the latest product which is proved successful by the Korean manufacturer. Apart from the engine, most of the other features has been just improved from the standard version. However, no words on the changes made in the vehicle’s interiors are available for discussion.

What’s been refreshed?

Apart from the alterations made under the hood, the new Veloster features a larger front grille to allow more air flow. Subsequently, more air flow results in improved fuel-air ratio by allowing them to mix homogeneously. Curves and lines have been tweaked in the front fascia which increases the belligerence of the car. The side sills have been extended. Not only the wheels but also the tires have been modified which further makes the car to look aggressive and fierce. The rectangular mufflers in the standard version is replaced by circular mufflers at the rear. The new variant is destined to describe its powerful features through its external as well as internal modifications.

The machine

As mentioned earlier, the 2013 version of Veloster will possess a powerful turbo charged 1.6L, four cylinder, Gasoline Direct Injection engine which is capable of delivering a stupendous power of 204 hp with a peak torque of about 195 pound feet at the range of 1500 to 5000 RPM. In fact, certain reliable sources predict that this vehicle could cruise from 0 to 60 mph in just around 5 seconds.

However, the addition of the turbo charger was not able to be spotted in the spy photos, which were leaked earlier. The turbo-charger must be positioned away from the top layer. Surprisingly, the manufacturer has recently confirmed the news about Veloster’s new turbo charged engine. The turbo charger not only increases the efficiency of the engine at low speeds but also optimizes the combustion process, thus results in low carbon emissions.

Forget the awful J-Lo commercials — as it turns out, there’s a version of that tiny ride that’s actually manly enough to drive. And it’s name is the Fiat 500 Abarth ($TBA). Faithful to the “small but wicked” saying used to describe Karl Abarth’s cars from the ’60s, this racy model will sport an all-new 1.4L MultiAir Turbo engine, specially-tuned suspension and brake systems, upgraded technology on the inside, and far more aggressive looks on the outside.
