Known among luxury circles for its mind-blowing performance yachts, Wally has introduced the Wallyship in its new line of luxury yachts. As yachts increasingly tend to become works of art, Wallyship also reflects on the industries’ inclination with its two models: the 26m Wallyship and the 36m Wallyship. Combined with a contemporary and clean style, the Wallyship has wider and more stable hulls along her sleeker lines. The most striking of all the features on the Wallyship is its larger open spaces in both the interior and exterior. The Wallyship’s innovative exterior lines with larger open-air social areas aim at lovers of long cruises. Featuring three decks, the 26 m Wallyship has a large sunbathing and lounge area on the top one. The main deck features two social cockpits (one forward and one aft) along with a salon and navigation station. The third deck is the guest and service deck, which features two double crew cabins forward and a large galley and crew mess area along with the interior styling in the wood options (teak, cherry and oak). Priced at € 4.5milion plus options, the first unit of the 26 m Wallyships is scheduled for spring 2011.

Cigarette Racing Boat Inspired By Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG Revealed

Wednesday, February 17th, 2010

mb-sls-amg-cigarette.jpg

Mercedes-Benz and Cigarette Racing converged upon the 2010 Miami International Boat Show last week to unveil a new 46-foot custom racing boat inspired by the automaker’s SLS AMG supercar. In lieu of the Gullwing’s lone 6.2-liter V8 engine, which puts out a measly 563 horsepower, the Cigarette boat offers a pair of twin-turbocharged 552-cubic-inch Mercury Racing engines. Each mill cranks out 1,350 horsepower. Yep, that’s 2,700 total horsies. Giddyup.

The new Cigarette 46-foot Rider features hand-applied AMG ALUBEAM silver paint, as seen on the SLS AMG supercar. According to the automaker, its specially developed painting technique “covers body surfaces like a metallic skin, targeting light reflections to further emphasize exterior character lines and design details.” We’ll take their word for it.

Step inside the boat and you’ll be greeted with marine-grade upholstery that’s designed to resemble the two-tone porcelain and white Nappa leather offered on the SLS AMG. So far, there’s no word on how much this custom Cigarette will go for, but something with a six-pack of zeros is virtually a lock.

PURE yachting has come up with their new line of rigid inflatable boats (RIBs) at the U.S. Sailboat and Powerboats Shows. Using the expertise of the same team that constructs the high-performance GUNBOAT catamarans, PURE yachting has debuted its luxury inflatable yacht tenders with the best of the finishing we could see in any lightweight inflatable boat. Described as the “sexy yacht tender,” it is infused with modern technology and all the qualities of a luxury RIB without adding excessive weight, making it a great riding, dry-inflatable boat. Using teak decks and vibration dampening from the carbon fiber construction, PURE yachting reverse engineered the boat, eliminating the need for a larger, heavier davit or lifting system that leads to better fuel efficiency and performance on and off the water.

Dutch yachtbuilder Oceanco’s newest superyacht creation, dubbed the Y708 and its most advanced and largest ever at 283 ft., will be completed in 2012 at an estimated cost of $150 million. The floating luxury palace, designed by Russian Igor Lobanov in a style calculated to appeal to the oligarch set, features a library, sushi bar and cigar bar among the many luxe amenities on its four decks. Based on three guiding principles - motion, elegance, and privacy - Lobanov used dramatically sculpted surfaces to convey motion, a dynamic silhouette to impart elegance, and a compartmentalized interior layout and hidden crew passages to ensure privacy. The yacht has four guest cabins, two VIP suites and a master suite on its own deck with a salon, study, turbo jet whirlpool and wraparound balconies, while the aft deck features a swimming pool that converts to a helipad. The Y708 will be powered by 2 MTU 20V 4000 M73L diesels, each producing 4,830 hp and enabling her to cruise at a speed of 20 knots.

ankida-yacht_eikbq_65.jpg

The London and Swiss-based yacht design studio, Lila-Lou, has revealed their latest project, Ankida. The Ankida concept’s design relies on the full automation of the mechanics for most part of its operation to allow for the greatest surface area coverage and optimal positioning in relation to the wind direction and conditions. The superstructure shaped in a bow-like arrangement allows the forces to work efficiently for propulsion and the keel bulb adjusting automatically to optimize the center of mass and gain the best performance. When you decide not to sail, the booms automatically rest joined and facing aft with the sail in line with the straight mast. One of the unique features of Ankida is that it can also operate under one sail, allowing the option of a portside sail. Being packed with a sophisticated software package for weather, navigation and operation makes Ankida a truly unique wind powered vessel.

Boasting one of the highest price tags of any item ever featured on Uncrate, the Excelsior Dawes Hovercraft ($65 million) is also one of the most hardcore. This 179-foot, military-grade hovercraft was designed for landing troops and transports on enemy shores, boasting two stabilized multiple rocket launchers, four portable air defense missile systems, enough room to hold three tanks and 140 troops, complete with living quarters, life support, and nuclear, biological, and chemical protection areas, and a square-shaped pontoon structure for a rugged, stable platform at sea. For those of you not planning a hostile attack on Richard Branson’s private island, the Seal Hovercraft ($12,000) is a more sensible option, with a 14-foot length, 2-3 person capacity, and no lethal weapons to worry about.

Hermes Defines Silhouette of Wally’s latest Island Yacht

Thursday, September 24th, 2009

 why_rfot3_12.jpg

While the yacht lovers are still drooling over Roman Abramovich’s “Eclipse,” the Monaco-based yacht maker, Wally has quietly gone into bed with the prestigious luxury brand Hermes to give shape to a revolutionary yacht design. WHY Wally-Hermes Yacht has an air of exclusivity to it that you would expect from this rarefied collaboration. This revolutionary yacht is developed with the latest and most advanced sustainable technologies, recycling thermal energy, as well as any organic and inorganic waste without compromising on its luxury aspects. The 38-meter-wide yacht takes the WallyIsland concept forward with dramatic silhouette that comes with a triangular hull shape that doesn’t features a superstructure. The interior of the yacht is fitted with water resistant buffalo leather using the calpinage technique. The luxuries on board include a 25-meter interior swimming pool, three decks and a 36-meter “beach” along the back.

The environmental and ecological advantages are also a strong point of WHY. The yacht is powered using a diesel electric engine and it features a surface of the photovoltaic panels measuring 900 square meters covering the roof and sides of the vessel to provide solar electricity which is sufficient to subsist the power needs of the boat. Different sources of energy are managed by a central computer. The yacht has been tested in Gothenburg, Sweden, in a specialized tank testing facility, to see how it would perform in big seas. This innovative concept was developed by president and CEO of Wally Luca Bassani Antivari, artistic director of Hermes, Pierre-Alexis Dumas and design director of Hermes Gabriele Pezzini.
