Led Zeppelin: IV

Wednesday, November 9th, 2011

Today, exactly 40 years ago this billboard appeared on Sunset Boulevard in Los Angeles. Nobody really knew what these weird symbols meant. After a while they appeared to be the ‘title’ of the new Led Zeppelin album also know as Led Zeppelin IV. The four symbols were chosen by the members of the band themselves and each represented a band member. This successful campaign shows us that you don’t need a clear message on a billboard in order to attract attention. Nowadays bands should tease there fans more like this.

Preparation H: Haemorrhoids

Friday, October 28th, 2011

Preparation H is a brand of ointment that is used in the treatment of haemorrhoids. Know before you go

Wednesday, October 5th, 2011

It’s been a long time since we’ve seen a print ad as good as this one. Not only the visual is strong but the entire concept is brilliant. You should definitely check the description of the hotel in the upper left corner. If families would book this hotel based on the description they should probably take a look on Google Street View, because the hotel description isn’t what you would think.

Mickey Mouse milk ad is a relic of olde worlde naiveté (or it’s just rude)

Thursday, September 29th, 2011

This undated old Grad Rapids Milk ad features a bit of dialogue from Minnie and Mickey Mouse that either contains a rude double-entendre or is a relic of an era of unbelievable naiveté. Either way: snigger snigger snigger.

Colorado State Patrol: Convertible

Friday, September 23rd, 2011

The Colorado State Patrol is educating people not to stick to the bumper of a truck because it can turn any vehicle into a convertible. It is not the first time they created such a billboard.
